First of all, this is IPE, the wood used in the project.
Notice that it has the same fire rating as steel and concrete
The wood is so hard that it tore up about 4 dewalt drill bits for screwing the biscuits down. This was only though the joints, however, where the wood was weakest. A straight screw need to have a predrilled hole?.no ifs and or buts about it. Also, we needed a minimum of 120-140psi to drive 2 1/2 galvanized nails into it, and they STILL needed to be driven in manually  Anythign less and they would bounce right off and get jammed into the gun:laugh:
To give you an Idea of how hard it is, you could take a powerful whack at it with a large foot-sized Johnson Tools Steel Framing Square and it would just nick it:laugh:
Oldham, god knows we love you, but you weren't fit for this job. Too bad I didn't take pics because this would tore the CARBIDE teeth to SHREDS and warped the hell out of it since it overheated so fast, that it tore into our miter saw's guides.....our $700 miter saw's guides🙁
Freud's 60 tooth Diablo Blade
Cut the stuff like BUTTA....lie friggen BUTTA😀 at first.....because of the squiggly lines (laser etched holes) it did not overheat...at first...
Damn thing didn't last a day.....warped the LIVING hell out of it and dulled it. The Titanium carbide teeth got dull but were still intact. Yes, we bought another Diablo and it too got dull:laugh:
Basically, this deck ended up being tank-proof. Each beam is so damn solid that, well, they are just really ******* solid😛
Now then, here are the pics.
Keep this in mind just for practical reasons:
? This is still a large jobsite so the landscaping hasn?t been done and it is messy.
? Contractors and such are walking on the deck all the time so it is very dirty.
? We still have a little bit to do.
? We did not install all of the windows. We only installed the two pairs on the second floor above the concrete step landing?we don?t want to take credit for anyone else?s work
? We sInstalled the french foors
? We still need to clean it
Now then, bow to IPE
