Is something wrong?

I went to BB to get a keyboard. I was going to get the Casio CTK-496 for $99.99. I then saw the 591 for $129.99. I thought that was cool, so I asked if they had any. They said no, but they'd sell me the display for 10% off. I agreed.

Then I needed a MIDI cable. They helped me find software that was on sale for the cost of a MIDI cable in other stores, and the software came with the cable. That was cool.

Then when I checked out, the actually gave me 23% off, so I got it for $.01 more than the lesser model.

They were friendly and very attentive the entire time.

Just thought some balance was needed on the BB stories.

Nah, I'm a geospatial analyst. It's about as unrelated to Best Buy as it gets.

What can I say, maybe I'm just charismatic.... ;)

Nope.

Well, he asked about a 4-year warranty, but I think they have to do that.

There is a lot a BB bashing in here when in fact there are some really good people that work there, or in the other retail stores as well...

I work in retail, & i hate how it gets generalized that we are nothing but money-hungry scum.

Yesterday at work, i convinced a guy not to buy the 9600SE or the FX5200 he was looking at, & instead sent him to a competitor to buy a 9600XT (he couldn't quite afford a 9800 Pro).

Anyone who needs help with a spyware removal program...i sure as heck don't try to sell them the crap we carry. They usually leave with a piece of paper with urls for Firefox & Adaware & Spybot Search & Destroy.

Sadly, there are many dumbasses who don't care...but many people do try their best :)

Outside of the ESP pushing, which is a management down problem, employees are just doing their job....I really have no problems at all with Best Buy. Sure sometimes it's a little hard to find a salesguy when you want, but really, what retail store DOESN'T have this problem.

I've taken back numerous items without them raising an eyebrow. Opened, unopened, whatever. No problems. No restocking fees. The two times I've gone to them to exercise the powers of my ESP, I've received brand new, off the shelf products equal to my original purchase price.

But, I've always gone in there, been polite, courteous, and without and inflated sense of self-entitlement.

I think that's the thing there. If you're polite and friendly with people, they'll almost always be the same way to you.

If I went in there and said "I need a Musical Instrument Digital Interface keyboard, I'm not sure if you understand what that is, so I'll draw you a picture...." then I probably wouldn't have had such a good experience. Instead I just BSed with the dude, found out that he's in a band, he told me where they're playing, we talked about work, etc.

Nope...been at my job for a year now...i also know how to sell...i just don't sell things that would be a waste of money to the customer.

That means they are happy, which means they come back to buy more from me, & tell their friends to buy from me, which means everyone is happy :D
