I only get a few channels in HDTV (mostly NBC, ABC, CBS) right now, but I'd like to have the options to record more. I'm more interested in the ability to watch other HD divx shows, though getting tivoesque functionality back would be kinda cool.

$2500, and as far as playign HD on a HTPC, make sure you havea fast Chip and a faster graphics card...h.264 hardware acceleration only means so much...

Yeah, I'm definitely not ready to shell out $2500 on something like that right yet. Right now when I want to watch Lost I just plug my laptop into the TV and that usually does it. What sort of setup am I going to need to make this feasible, if it's probably unrealistic that I'll be interested in games for the most part? Storage on this particular device won't be ubernecessary as I've got about 750gb of networked space right now, so I'd probably only be putting a 250gb drive into it.
