i guess windows 10 doesn't like windows live essentials... EDIT: WAIT, 2012 WORKS

i just tried to install movie maker 2011 from vista onto my windows 10 box

and it locked up HARD

no moving the mouse, no ctrl+alt+del - had to manually power off 😱

i was hoping for things to be a little more stable in 10... and also for my video editing software to work 🙁

UPDATE:

i just tried to install movie maker 2012 and it was OK! there may have been a problem with 2011, but 2012 seems to work fine in windows 10

Hehe, I think we may find a lot of old things that played nice with windows 7 and 8 that no longer work in 10. All the old safedisc protected games also no longer work in windows 10.

yeah, the price of early adoption i suppose.

when i tried to use the corel videostudio demo, i couldn't even get the program to work - the startup screen just shows up as white. apparently they don't have a patch for it yet.

i'm liking the overall windows experience though. better than windows 8 for sure.

I put live essentials 2012 on my mom's 10 home x64 pc without issue. She uses the picture gallery to scan in pictures from her printer and wanted it back in after I clean installed 10 on her pc.

Works here.
Not at all.....
In the future you will have to pay for a media player or a dvd player...etc....you get nothing for free....
MS are going to lose out on that game, people will obviously go for the cheaper or free alternative.

I have the latest Live Essentials running on here. Granted, it was installed while I was still running 8.1, but Movie Maker is still working.

Movie Maker is terribly, btw, I only use it because I'm lazy and cheap.

oh good - i finally tried again and it worked! i guess i tried with 2011 at first and that didn't work, but 2012 did.

now i don't have to learn a new program and i can keep using what i know like the old man that i am
