I guess... the Samsung Nexus is holding it's price pretty well?

I need to purchase a couple of cheap do-everything Android phones for work. They'll need to run on both the AT&T and T-Mobile networks.

So I thought, "that's easy, the Nexus 4 has been out for a while, so the older Samsung Nexus should be like $250 now considering the Nexus 4 is $350."

I go on eBay and Craigslist. A lot of the Samsung Nexii are still at $350.

WTF?

It's pretty crazy still. Thought about buying one to futz around with. I can get 16GB Nexus 4's with accessories for less now.

I've seen quite a few of them going for $180-200 on Kijiji here in Canada lately (Like Craig's List)

Also just to note, I still have friends with them and stock 4.2.1 has noticeable slowdowns on the phone (stock) so it is starting to show its age. Custom Rom's I'm sure are fine still.

thats weird, they were only 169 on sites like cowboom a few months ago and they had plenty of them. i noticed they dont have them at all now. there are more reliable phones anyway like the razr's. maybe theyre expensive cuz theyre the only 4g nexus. id wait anyway, with google i/o next week theyll probably announce a nexus 4 lte which is better and cheaper anyway

I just bought one a little over a month ago on craigslist for $130 and it was in pretty damn good condition too. The Galaxy Nexus honestly was one of the worst phones I have ever owned. Sure the screen is big, dual core cpu, pure google but the 3 that I have owned all had weak ass signal. With a SGH-T989 right next to it the nexus would get 1 bar the GS2 would get 3-4 and be better signal wise by about 20dBm too.

So what do you guys recommend for a cheap do-everything phone for both AT&T and T-Mobile? SGS3? But depending on the version, it will have to be on 2G speeds for at least one of the carriers, right?

Galaxy S II phones should be pretty cheap by now. They are still fairly capable.

Yup I think the S3 is a great deal now with the S4's out. The 2gigs of RAM make that phone fairly futureproof. Slap Slimbean on one and it feels faster than my S4 with TouchMyWiz's pollution.

Fuzzy, why don't you look for a Verizon global phone? You would have good coverage in the states, and coverage out of country. I think you can even weasel the newer LTE phones onto Page Plus for prepaid fun. Just an idea.

Are there any plans to release a new Nexus phone? I am getting kind of sick of my Samsung-laced Android experience and would like something cleaner. I was going to go Note 3 for sure, but now I'm not so sure.

What's wrong with the current Nexus phone?

Camera, Battery life, 16gb max with no SD slot. Worst speaker I've ever heard in a smart phone. Stupid amount of bottom bezel, yet no physical button. I could overlook the camera, the bezel and even the limited space, but the speaker & battery make it really difficult to deal with imho. Both could be easily fixed too.
