I guess it is too hot to learn, sometimes too cold.

Schools in the area were cancelled yesterday because it was too hot outside. Today again, this time off at noon because it is too hot. Last winter there were two days where it was called off for being too cold. Just cold, it wasn't snowing or anything, just bitter cold OUTSIDE.

A friend and I were thinking back, we went to school in the same buildings and can't remember a called off day just because of cold. Surely don't remember a day off for being too hot.

Making our children pussies...

Maybe it's to hard for the AC and heat to keep up when it's unusually extreme for the area. Pretty miserable sitting in a class trying to learn when it's to hot or cold inside.

Probably to reduce the chance of little Jonny having a heatstroke as he funnels in his fifth cheesestick on the blacktop.

I must have been the last generation to have gone to a school without air conditioning. Late May and June used to be brutal. The only classrooms that had AC were the computer labs, and they were just window shakers. We used to open up all the windows and stick a big box fan in the door. We usually just ended up getting sent to play if it got that bad, or we had freezie day. School used to do a lot of outdoor events at this time of year too.

In the winter, all the schools in the district used hydronic (water radiator) heating. When I was in high school, they decided to shut the boilers down on the weekends to save money. The school would be freezing every Monday morning. Took hours for those old boilers to heat the water back up.

That was a little poetic, so you can't just say "this". You're stealing HamburgerBoy's soul. Trying to, at least.

He has none to steal. Once you reach Lifer status, your soul is confiscated.

The schools in my town don't have AC.

But unlike you weirdos, I live in a place where it never snows and the summer rarely gets hot either. You guys are freaks living where you do.

I thought they said on the radio that those areas where school was cancelled it was like low-to-mid 90's.

IMO, that's nice ass weather.

never seen it canceled here because of heat, school in NY goes into late June (graduation is normally a week or 2 before the 4th of july and it can be quite hot.

I have seen in canceled in the past few years because of cold. When it gets below zero it happens, too many kids walk to school without proper clothing or some other BS reason

Is it just me or does school seem to start earlier every year? Back when I was in school it used to start in September, maybe even a week in, like after labor day. I can't recall it being too hot in school, September = snow is coming any minute, June = snow is finally gone, and I don't need a coat every day.

I have seen it canceled for cold though. -49C seems to be the cut off. At least make it a nice round number, like -45 or something. :p
