i guess i'm a moran.

well, i bought an xbox 360 arcade and MW2. i also have a 24" monitor that i want to play it on. i bought the hdmi to DVI adapter and an HDMI cable. i everything out of the box. i go to plug up everything and can't plug up the a/v to the xbox AND the HDMI at the same time. the a/v(stock one that came with the 360) blocks the HDMI port.

am i doing something wrong or what? i haven't touched a console since n64 days.

sorry for my ignorance.

Yea Microsoft made it that way so people would have to buy their expensive ass adapter. What you need to do is crack open the case that connects to the back of the Xbox and it'll work fine. It won't hurt anything.

hey 0, thanks for the reply. as soon as i looked on google i saw the suggestion you just purposed. just popped it off.

while i'm at it and have your attention. i'm wanting to run the xbox to my lcd and the sound to my logitech 5.1 setup. how do i go about doing that?

If you want 5.1 sound, well, I dunno.

If stereo is fine, this is what I did:

Cheap $5 A/V switch from ebay.

2x 3.5mm male to RCA stereo male.

3.5mm double female coupler.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...d=10401&cs_id=1040109&p_id=678&seq=1&format=2

Use the 3.5mm to RCA cable for PC to sound switch input.
Use 3.5mm to RCA cable + coupler for sound switch output to speakers.
Connect 360 RCA sound cables to input on sound switch.

pie, thanks. got it working but i've got my speakers all the way up and it's still not very loud.. any way to turn the volume up or am i screwed?

Also, you may have issues with the XBox rebooting if you have both the HDMI and Multiout plugged in at the same time IF you go to watch a video where it wants to switch from HD to 480i. This is annoying, but normal. If you use just the HDMI or the multiout then it doesn't happen. Of course you can buy the "microsoft" adaptor OR cut a wire in the factory multiout cable which renders the video output useless on the factory cable.
