I guess as long as you have giant chrome wheels you're balling

Why do people who put on big chrome wheels suddenly think they're ballers now? Example, last week I saw a newer model chevy truck with chrome 22's and on the back window had something and Ballerz Club, can't remember the exact name. I have nothing against chevy trucks but that isn't exactly "baller" status. A 7 series or a SL600 yes but not a $20k truck.

at least the wheels weren't worth more than the vehicle they were on (which is saying even more when the wheels are the cheapest, shittiest 20+" wheels they could buy).

I don't like Chrome wheels, like what 'vettes have. Too gaudy. I'd like a matte black rim style with a chrome outline. That is both shiny and understated.

What I always find amusing is people who think they're hot sh!t in an 10+ year old luxury car

Or people in luxury cars with a carmax decal on the rear of the car

I had a sad realization the other day, when I saw some 10 year old shitbox with 22 inch wheels that jacked it several inches higher off the ground. The lad driving that monstrosity had put a "22" decal on hid fender behind the wheel well. Once upon a time, cars came with decals that showed off the engine size. Now people show off the size of their wheels. As if it's not enough for us to see the hideous things that you are probably "renting to own" from Colortyme, now they're spelling it out. How times have changed.

to accentuate the 3 plastic vents you have glued onto the front fender of your Buick.

Times haven't changed, you're just crotchety. There's still a huge community turning their cars into hotrods, and probably more aftermarket options than there were in the "golden age."

Not to mention the cars are way faster these days.

I guess these guys probably aren't as visible as the people that put gigantic wheels on old crown vics, but that is a separate car culture, it's not replacing the gearheads.

A "baller" was someone who made it by playing sports. But these days, anyone who may have seen a ball at least one time in their life can qualify. The people that put big rims on cars today are the same people that put small ones on 15 years ago.

Yeah I think that putting a decal with wheel size on your fender or window is just about the tackiest and moronic thing you could stick on your car. It's like wearing a Rolex watch along with a tee shirt that says, "Check out my Rolex."

Either your wheels make your car look good, or they don't. No one cares how big they are.

Nope, it was their daddies.

I know there is. I was just sharing some color commentary on the different cultures emerging in the U.S. these days.

what gets me are the people with early 90's buicks that are lifted to fit 22" rims

gotta love the fake portholes on the fenders, too.

My wife wanted chrome wheels on her Lexus so we had the dealer send them out to be chromed after we bought her car. I actually prefer regular alloys but the chrome wheels do look good on her car. A bit over the top for me though.

Edit-I have no idea what the whole ballin' thing is though. Must be a gay thing.

My favorite are these idiots who put big heavy chrome 22's and up on their SUV's or Trucks....and then don't upgrade their brakes! IDIOTS!

That was the biggest shock when I moved to Atlanta. The number of people in shitboxes with 22" rims. I would bet that the majority of them have been stolen 3 or 4 times. I just can't see how a Mexican could afford something like that.

I hate that trend. It really burns me because I drive a Caprice, which is a very good car in its original condition. The horrors I've seen done to that model....the horrors....
