I got tree sap on my car >.<

So I went home for about 4 days for the long weekend and being the lazy person I am I decided to park the car on the driveway. My mom told me I could just move the junk van out of the garage and then move my car in, but I was like nah, it's ok, knowing I would be gone in a few days.

I ended up driving out like once maybe because my friends picked me up most of the time, and so my car was sitting under a cedar tree (whoops). I got sap drops (maybe 4 - 5 on my front windshield), and probably on the roof and all over the place.

I got back to my apartment and noticed this but I don't have a hose nor any car washing equipment up at school. I depend on those semesterly car washes hosted by our fraternity to keep my car clean, but it's summer now...

So now what? It's been a week and I've been quite busy so I finally got some gas today adn decided to scrub some of that sap off. Man, it requires major scrubbing. I got my fingers all dirty, so I'll probably head home this weekend or sometime soon to do a full car wash.

How exactly can I get this crap off?

Acetone for the glass, a pressure washer and hard scrubbing with a rag for the body.

Tarminator works great on removing sap, tar, and grease. Just wash your car and spray it on areas that are hard to get off.

Claybar will also do the trick unless there are huge spots, just be prepared to was it up after the claybar.

If you get pitch on your hands, you can get it off with fat/oil (like massaging margarine into your hands, then wash it off with soap), so perhaps you can get it off your car easier the same way? I suppose greasing your windshield would cause almost a bigger mess to clean up, though. ;)

I've used rubbing alcohol to clean sap off clothes and cars. It dissolves the stuff like magic, and is super cheap at the grocery store.

If only people hadn't wasted precious minutes in line writing checks, you would have been able to prevent this atrocity.

I know this will sound crazy but take it from an autobody/painter of almost 30 years, cold water and rubbing with your hand will remove sap as well as anything you can buy to do the job.

I have seen guys charge $200.00 to buff/detail a car and simply run cold water over the car and rub it with their hand to remove the sap.
