Long story short. my small town is planning on selling 5 lots of land 1 block from my house for a developer to come in and build a 21 apt building.

The building will be made from 25 year old military housing left over from Lowery AFB in Denver. Basically he wants to build a low income facility. So basically a slum!!!!

My street is a dead end no other way in or out to leave the town. there were about 30 of my neighbors at the public hearing as well and all us got to be heard.

I was "asked" to leave by the Chairman when the POS developer was asked by a council member how old the houses were. when he said 25 myself and all my neighbors started the mumble mumble. I couldnt take it. I have worked hard to improve my house and property to make it look nice and increase properties value. When the POS developer said how old the houses were i stood up and said a few choice words directed at the POS Develper and the members of the council.

I basically asked the council if the developer greased them and for them to even consider allowing this SLUM to be built, puts all of their judgement into serious doubt!!!

God im still pissed!!!!

Edit--- I was going to take my 9 year old daughter to expose her to a government function. Good thing i didnt, i dont want her seeing me loosing my cool in public like that.

I can empathize with your feelings, but I can't sympathize with you.

Either I misunderstood your post, or I think you missed the point of the meeting.

As I understand it, the meeting was to help determine if the town would go ahead and sell the land to the developer (if the decision had already been made and was a done deal, then why bother having a meeting about it?).

The town council is responsible for implementing what the voters want. The meeting is to help them decide what the voters want.

If you had said, "Hey, it sounds like the developer wants to build a slum next door to my home, and I disagree with that idea," and then they threw you out, then you would be well justified in your anger.

But instead, you attacked the integrity of your elected and appointed officials, accused them of dishonesty, and said they were idiots.
And, oh yeah, the developer's going to build a slum.

Whether or not any of that's true, your attitude and resultant outburst no doubt hurt your own cause, and made the developer seem all the more reasonable to everyone else there. Moreover, by insulting the town council, you automatically force them to defend themselves, and from a psychological standpoint, they WILL align themselves more with your opponent (i.e. the developer).

You just dug your own hole. Better hope that you (or someone else) can dig you out of it.

BTW, if this is how you act at a public hearing, I can only shudder at what your daughter must see of you at home.

Did you make any suggestions as to some alternatives they have for the lots (after all, that's what a planning meeting is for; constructive criticism)? Because I'm sure if they had a choice between selling them or sitting on the money, they'd go with the former.

so you have any future plans to contest this?
is there like a higher authority than your city counsel?
will the State aid you in any way?
Johnnie Cochran?
