i got this magdrive pump, how do i know its submersible?

what magdrive pump is it? I know that the 1 and 1.5 ARN'T but the rest (2,5 and so on) are. If it pumps 250 gph or more water than its safe to keep underwater.
 
utility 2 seen here i believe. in fact i've seen many pics of that exact pump and am almost convinced it is submersible... the power cord says its waterproof, but you know you dont wanna take chances with electricity :Q

how do you guys control the pump power? leave it on 24/7?
