I have these parts:

Supermicro P4DC6 Motherboard
Dual Xeon P4 1.7Ghz cpus
1 gig RDRAM
PC Power and Cooling 450atx PSU
Geforce4 Ti4200 AGP card

I read on the "Hot Deals" forum that the Dual Xeon 1.6GHz cpus OC to 2.6 easily, so should I keep this system or sell it to build a A64 rig?

This will be used for everything, but mostly gaming and/or music.

Thanks.

You be the judge. I have parts laying around but they are not worth my time and efforet to sell (I give away stuff for free locally). When I think I can get enough to justify, I'd sell.

always sell is my MO . . .

Everyone starts out with nice parts they intend to use . . . sooner or later they have "junk" they no longer can use. ;)

Plan for what you are going to use immediately in a build vs. what you will get for them . . . weigh up the costs. . . . that's what does it for me . . . i just sold my Radeon 8500-128MB (this week) before it loses further value (and Doom III which i won't replay, mods included).

The PS, if quality, never loses value or usefulness (in the forseeable future . . . perhaps r600/nv60 are gonna need a megawatt, min). ;)

You'd be surprised at how one man's junk is another man's treasure. Those dual Xeons would probably sell quickly on Ebay, along with the RDRAM.

And if you're really feeling generous you could give away the Ti4200 to someone so they can replace their aged GF2 MX card. *coughcough* ;)
