I got the wrong mobo! 8RDA+ \ 8RDA3+

A week ago I ordered my 8RDA+ that has been eagerly awaited in the postoffice, today I recieved ny salery and got my package. My first thought when I opened the box - WTF, why do they bundle SATA cables with a 8RDA+?

I soon realised they had sent me a 8RDA3+ with one of the most expensive bundles, Rounded IDE cables, SATA power and data, two onboard NIC - only 100mbps, the only thing that I didn't get that would be in a complete bundle was the SPDIF extenion that I don't use anyway.

What do I do, keep it or send it back for a 8RDA+? Why I'm asking is it seems to only have the MCP (no -T) southbridge and also I'm unsure how it does in performance. When it comes to pci slot nr6 I could care less, the only pci slot I would use anyway is for a better soundcard or SCSI (doubt the latter).

Well I think i'll keep it, probably couldn't be bothered to wait for the exchange anyway.

Just one more thing, I thought I would plug in the case firewire port and have a few questions:

I have plugged in tpa+, tpa-, tpb+, tbp-, GND, GND... But what the heck do I do with the two last connectors? The mobo offers 2 "12V fused" pins whilest the case has two pins marked "VG" and "VP"

The case only has loads of 1 pin connecters, not the hwole bunch in one as usual...

I'd decide which board you really wanted and then contact the outfit you ordered from. If you really want the 8RDA+, tell then that you want them to fix the mistake at their expense. If you decide you want to keep the 8RDA3+, tell them about the mistake and see what they want to do. I really doubt that they would make you exchange the board at their expense and if they do, offer to pay a small amount extra to just keep the board. Either way, you did the right thing.

All 8RDA3+'s do. Sorry to burst your bubble. 😉 Still a nice error in your favor, unless you really don't like the lack of the MCP-T.
