it seems to me that it would be better for one's credit rating if he or she spends money on a CC and pays it off in full on time each month. just having a CC and not using it doesn't seem to be worth it.
I don't have a CC so this is just my speculation.

Citibank? Because I got the exact same thing. Considering I don't use that card because they didn't send me paper bills or email notifications in the past, I was about ready to raise some hell if there was actually a charge on it.

Sprint has been sending me a bill for $3.25 since roughly October 2003. By my calculation they have spent over $10.00 trying to collect $3.25. I did try to call them but could not get past the "Enter your Sprint phone number please". I tried to call the sales number where I know humans actually answer and the guy told me to enter all 0's. I tried that and got no where so I entered my home phone number and got a little further but then suddenly got cut off with a fast busy. Hell with them if they don't have a way to talk to a human without going through that kind of nonsense.

yeah, cable is expensive.. but i just tried to do dsl... echo's in my analog, continually dropped internet connections... blah... I wanted it to either work or I'd cancel.. I cancelled... I don't have time to screw around w/ this and go out of my cancellation period.

you might want to call them out and sort it all. You dont want it to go into collections and then appear on your credit history.
