I got the 9700 pro and now i have problems help!

deleate the enum section on the reg before you shut down, that should get you though things fine.

i would definitely go with a format. if you have a slave hard drive you can back up everything on that. i know it's a pain but you can start with a clean slate.

I like the idea of adding a new hard drive and using the old one as slave. Just install the OS on the new hard drive and boot from that. All of your data will still be on the old hard drive.

Or you can back up to a second partition of one drive...

For the topic at hand - reformat! ATI cards can be picky that way, they prefer a clean windows install. I have been guilty of not reformatting several times when upgrading to ATI cards, but if you get a problem like this, save yourself some grief and just reformat (make sure to back everything up, of course!).

I really don't get why everyone hates reformatting so much. It's a pain, I know, but if you back up regularly, or just don't save everything on your C: partition then it's not that tough. Plus you get the nice "new machine" snappy feel those first weeks anyways .

Try to set the AGP voltage to 1.7v.
It helped me resolve my stability problems with 9700 PRO.

Does your mobo have an agp 8x slot? If so there are some cards that are 9700 pro which have issues with the agp 8x slot. Search in google for it and you will find a plethera of info.

Also you stated you used the drivers off the cd. I would download the latest drivers from ati.com also get direct x 9

This is what I did when I switched from a GF2 Ultra to a ATI 9700 Pro on WinXP. Uninstall the GF2, remove every Reg Key containing nVidia> shut down. Replace card and boot to generic Disp Drivers and not install Radeon drivers yet. Update to DX9 and reboot (very imp). Then, now install Catalist 3.1 (Radeon Drivers) and control panel.

Went smooth and now running an ATI OEM at 365/330.
