It can break out anywhere just like Herpes. It's the fact it's in my GODDAM EYE that's killing me!!! It itches like crazy.

I've gotten it once, when I was interning in public accounting. Got it on my left eyelid, nowhere else. Damn lucky it didn't spread to my eye.

I've had it. It's very painful.

Mine came on as a result of overtraining in the gym. One good hit to your immune system and POW! Felt like all my ribs on my right side were broken and all my internal organs on that side were going through a blender. And the skin was on fire and itched at the same time.

Why fear it? There's almost no way to avoid it if it's going to happen, and it's rare anyway. Mortality rate is also very low unless it proceeds to encephalitis, and it doesn't do that very often either.

Well, it's a relatively bad virus to get because of the pain you can have afterwards. Luckily it's very treatable, and as already stated most often only the elderly get it. I'm surprised so many younger people here have posted they've had it (unless the majority of posters in this thread have been ~40 like me).

i had it about 15 years ago on my right torso, a band about 7 inches wide just on my rib cage from front to back. to this day i still feel twinges of pain in that area scabies it can cause nerve damage.

i dont remember mine hurting that bad but i do remember it itching then after scratching it felt like a zillion ants were crawling over the infected part.

Oh LORDY!!! It's gotten worse!!! I've got this huge ooozing scab all over my noze, one on the the bridge of my nose, sores on my head.

Worse, I know I can't itch it or take a shower because i'll end up rubbing them off and leaving nasty scars on my face.

I also have terrible pain running into my right eye. Shit man, just pray you never get Shingles, and if you do pray it's never in a sensitive place, like ON YOUR FREAKIN FACE!!!!!:|:|:|:frown:

My boss got shingles about two months ago.....and she still has it. GOOD LUCK!

Can you believe I still have it? I had to go back to the opthamologist for the third time today. I finished taking my course of antivirals but my corneas are still scratched because it got into my right eye in particular. I still have sores on my nose too, but at least they are healing- it will probably take another week or two for them to heal as well.
