OP.... would have saved us all a lot of time and effort if you would have just wrote
not exactly. the traditional white van scam is a van that drives up to you at a gas station or large parking lot and makes an offer. This sounds like the type of speakers you usually get from white van. "Acoustic Response" are the speakers that I got many years ago...
but it's not so much that it is a scam, the speakers usually work, and they aren't great, but can be had for cheap.
...I suppose the scam from white van is that they are probably stolen, and not nearly as good as you are lead to believe. but they're quite cheap, usually.
Even if the speakers were legit, why would you 'cold buy' speakers?
The speakers look ridiculous. They look like they were designed for the automotive audio guys.
Not to mention the cheesy "receiver" built into the subwoofer...Even if the speakers were legit, why would you 'cold buy' speakers?

Wow, for $80? That seems legit - SIGN ME UP!!!Satellite/Center (250 watts x 5 = 1250w)
Not really a scam if the scammer accepts a return
Just suck it up and buy a good sub http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/vtf-3-mk3.html
I remember having a literally white van pull up to me and some friends and offer to sell us some speakers for $100 that he said were worth $1,000.
I was not interested (even if I had $100).
I would have gotten on though if they offered free candy.
I was in the 7th grade and it was 1981.
