It wasn't me, but I was at the lan when it happened. This was in high school, we would regularly do all night lans, show up around dinner time and game until you drop/10am the next morning. It was december on school break, and there was about 2 inches of snow on the ground and it was about 20 degrees at night. It made carrying crt's down the driveway into the basement very fun. Parents usually went to sleep at their normal time, and we tried to stay quiet. Tried.
One guy had a reputation for yelling and trash talking. I don't know if people were really that annoyed with him, or if it was just being a teenager hopped up on caffeine. This guy, who is still a good friend of all involved, had been camping for some time. At some point in the middle of the night a challenge was made.
Circle of death.
The challenege was accepted. We went outside into the backyard of the quiet suburban neighborhood at probably 3 am. A circle was traced out in the snow. By and large we weren't wearing coats. Once we realised that the circle of death comment wasn't a joke, we encouraged and rushed outside. Rules of engagement is first one out of the circle loses, no throwing fists or kicking. Camper got pushed out barely, and denied he had been pushed out, and kept coming. This enraged crazy lanky challenger who began windmilling his arms and rushing.
Madness.
A few others tried their hands at this new game, but that was the peak. But this was my most random video game enduced violence experience.
