i am using verizon phone service. the Global Crossing COMM changed my Long distance + regional toll without my permission. that s what they call slamming. the lady at Verizon told me to file a complain to FCC to get 150% what i got charged for Global Crossing's practice. too bad they've charged me only $10 so far LOL . just in case those of you dont know, if you was or shall be in the same situation, you can do the same.

you may want to wait till they charge you $1000 or so and start to complain LOL
i am going to do the paperwork to get the pathetic $15 now :)).

"If you HAVE paid your phone bill and then discover that you have been slammed:

The slamming company must pay your authorized company 150% of the charges it received from you. Out of this amount, your authorized company will then reimburse you 50% of the charges you paid to the slammer. For example, if you were charged $100 by the slamming company, that company will have to give your authorized company $150, and you will receive $50 as a reimbursement.

With these rules, the FCC has taken the profit out of slamming and protected consumers from illegal charges."

the FCC has taken the profit out of slamming
Let's see - you paid $100, you get $50 back, your authorized company gets $100 - seems like the rules generate a profit for your authorized company and a loss for you.

i think the 150% will cover the charges you have paid (100%) and you will receive the 50%. that will make more sense if you consider what they said: you are eligible for the reimbursement if you HAVE paid your slamming charges and

"Call your authorized company (local or long distance) to inform them of the slam. Tell them that you want to be reinstated to the same calling plan you had before the slam. Tell them that you want all "change of carrier charges" (charges for switching companies) removed from your bill."

you never mind, i got it now. because they said :
"The subscriber also has the option of asking the authorized carrier to re-rate the unauthorized carrier's charges"
so the charge you can remove is the one time charge for changing service carrier only, not the charge you paid for using the service

but either way the profit still go to your poccket anywayz. cuz you use theservice from the slamming company, you paid it, then you receive back 50% what you have paid, and even choose to re-rate that original charge in the rate of your authorized phone company (if it s lower than the slamming company's rate). so basically , you pay what you use and then receive at least 50% back.

Wow I can't believe that companay (Global Crossing) was still in biz? I thought they went bankrupt as a fiber optic startup in the 90's?
