I got screwed out of $100 last night, and I don't even know how

There was this burger joint I used to go to after a night at the bars, and they would always try to cheat you if you looked drunk enough. You'd give the guy a $20 for like a $6 dollar meal, and he'd try to give you a change for a $10. Bastards. I never fell for it, and they would try to play it off as a mistake.

But man was it fun! 😛

Probably gave a $100 bill for a $10.

Happened to me twice delivering chinese food to the drunks 🙂.

I didn't realize it myself either until I cashed out those nights and found the $100 bill in my bank. No way to return it unless the people call in...and even then we had a few 'false' calls a week where someone insisted they gave the driver too much money.

I thought of that, but the math doesn't make sense. The total for what we got was $53, call it $55. He left with $140. If the hundred we gave him was taken as a $10 instead, the cashier would have only gotten $50. Out of the $140 we gave him, he came back with $25ish in change. I'm just not sure where it could have went 😕

You are missing more like $50 then. $140-55 = $85, you ended up with $25 in change at the end of the night....$85-25 = $60.

With rounding maybe a $50 was passed in error. Paying $95 for the same $55 bill would give you $140-95=$45, $45-25 is a $20 discrepancy and $20 is pretty easy to blow on incidentals like parking, cigarettes if you smoke, a couple drinks off the tab, etc.
