So I order a camera from http://www.radioactivedeals.com as it had the lowest price anywhere. A few days later I get an email stating that there is a problem with my order and that I need to call a guy named "Kevin". So I call promptly and was bombarded with sales pitches...that I needed to pay extra $90.00 for the better battery and a case because the one that came with it only lasts 20 minutes...I was fine whatever. I was a little bit bothered so I decided to look at http://www.resellerratings.com/reseller_list.pl?keyword_search=radioactivedeals ( which I should have done first). Now, I don't want the camera from them because if I buy it somewhere else I will save approximately ~80.00. They charge a 15% restocking "fee" and was wondering what I could to avoid the fees. the package is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow.

Cliffs

1.) Bought Camera
2.) Was tricked into buying accessories at over inflated prices.(bait & switch)
3.) I no longer want camera from them as it is actually cheaper to buy elsewhere.
4.) Do want to pay restocking fees
5.) .....No profit :(

for reference look at their reselleratings score (I didn't look at it until too late) http://www.resellerratings.com/seller7041.html

i'm fairly certain this is common practice w/ these online digital camera places. cheap price, but it's like grey market stuff, or something.

good luck w/ your problem.

You could suck it up as lessons learned?

Can you refuse delivery? I'd call the credit card company and see what they would normally do in this type of situation.

credit card dispute? I dunno.

You mean to say that they had the lowest price anywhere, yet it was $80 more after the sales pitch?
How about, keep the camera, return the accessories?? Then, attempt to dispute the restocking charge on the accessories.

Dispute it with the credit card and refuse the shipment.

I know I could have declined, but the guy was sort of threatening me and he had all my info. If you look at what other people have written about them, you would see that they have told someone, "Why would you talk to me like that when I have all your info."

It's a learning experience. Now you know to:

1. Grow a spine so you can say "no" to sales pitches
2. Look at Resellerratings before you place an order

This place is probably based in New York, right? Pretty common for these places. Like others have mentioned, resellerratings is your friend, BEFORE a purchase.

What do they have ?

all they have is your CC info. Big Whoop. You can always dispute charges if you see something suspicious.

You relaly should grow a pair.

No they had my address cell and work number. The last thing I wanted was to be harrased at work where it could have led to me getting fired.

I hate to say it, but he's right. The only reason these places stay in business is because of people like you - suckers.

this really confused me... of course they have all your info. you bought a camera. what do you think they are gonna do with your info? how was he threatening you over the phone.

i am not really concerned about what other ppl wrote about them. i am wondering..

why did you buy stuff from somene who was threatening you?
how was he threatening you?
what would have happened had you declined the accessories?
why didnt you check out their references before you shopped with them.
why didnt you cancel the order over the phone when you felt threatened?

People (correctly) say check with resellerratings.com before you buy, but you should also take a look at the better business bureau before dealing with a vendor. Further, never give them any inormation not required for the transaction -- such as SS number, work phone number etc etc. Finally, when someone gets pushy, think for a second and say "is this the kind of shop I want to do business with?"

Bottom line, there's not a whole lot you can do. You fell for the hard sell (and don't feel bad, you're certainly not alone on that). Hopefully you still get the product you want.

This will be a grey market camera, granted you receive one in the first place. Meaning, NO WARRANTY.

The site didn't mention that it was gray-market. If turns out it is, shouldn't it warrant a return?
