I got ripped off...

Okay, I got ripped off on a Yahoo auction for an InFocus X1 projector (supposedly new). I payed $317 through Paypal. ($270 projector + $40 shipping + $7 insurance) I got an e-mail from Paypal the next day saying that the guy printed out a Paypal shipping label and that the projector would be coming through USPS, and it gave me a tracking number. Well, it's like 11 days later now, and the tracking number has never said that the projector was shipped...and obviously there's no projector at my doorstep.
This guy used 2 different names with the same last name, and used 2 different e-mail addresses. I would assume that the names are fake. I also have 2 different addresses from this guy, both in Philadelphia. I did a reverse number find for the "shipping address" and called that number, but I got some old guy and he had no idea what I was talking about. I can't get a numer for the address that the Paypal account is registered to.
I filed a complaint with Paypal 3 days ago, but I haven't heard anything back from them yet.

So I guess I'm asking for help from the ATOT community to get some kind of retribution, even if it's only getting my money back. I don't really care to prosecute, I just want my money or a projector if there was one. If anyone out there can help, or suggest an action to take, I can provide more information (I'm not trying to find illegal retribution against this guy).

1) tell me you paid with credit card.
2) i hate USPS tracking services. they're accurate about 20% of the time for me. the other 80% just says 'we've received information from the sender about this package."

Yes, I used a credit card. I believe he was a verified member...dont' you have to be to recieve money?

I think call your CC company to block the charge first.
Paypal is useless if you rely on them for help.

$317 for the infocus X1, you should have known better.

Yeah, in hindsight I should have known better...I was blinded by the excitement of getting a low price on a no reserve auction...thought I was being slick by using Yahoo auctions...

If PayPal can't get your money back, file a complain w/ your CC company, it's the only way, and way too obvious when things like these happy.

Yeah, I'm on the phone with the CC company now...they said they can't stop the payment, but they can put it "in dispute," so I'm doing that now. Thanks guys...I hope this works out.

Okay, I called my CC company now. They applied some kind of "temporary credit" to my account and they are going to send me some stuff to fill out. Hopefully this part will work...thanks again everyone....

I've gone through this before. Fill out all the paperwork, send it back to the CC company, and document *everything*. Print out screenshots of auction, e-mails from seller, tracking number that never shipped, etc. Show the CC company you're serious, they'll charge back PayPal (which is all you really care about), PayPal will charge back the original account, which was probbaly hacked anyway.
