I just got some energizer e^2 rechar. batts. Do I use them right away, or do I recharge first?

I read the manual, nothing says anything about it.

Unless they are NiCD, there is no memory effect and you should be fine with using them right away.

Consumer NiCd batteries do not exhibit any memory effect in any practical application. Neither do any other consumer batteries. Ever. And even if they did, it would have absolutely nothing to do with the OP's question.

@OP: Yes you need to charge them before use.

What do you consider practical applications? RC cars aren't exotic, and NiCd's for them do develop a memory.

it honestly doesn't matter. if they arne't precharged/hybrid/enloop then u charge before use. if you didn't, your batteries are probably almost dead anyways so you'd have to charge them anyways. i use a durracel 15 min charger that gets rid of the hassle

I have a set of 4 Energizer NiMh AA batteries that I use for one of my digital cameras. I got them out a couple of days ago after not using them for about 4 months, and every one of them appears to have gone to battery heaven...NONE of them will charge...:(

AFAIK it isn't the memory effect but overcharging that decreases the life of your NiCD batts.
