I got promoted yesterday!

So management comes to me yesterday and says, "We need to talk about your job performance."

At this point, I just about sh!t a brick because I thought I am going to get fired for whatever reason unbeknowst to me. They bring me in and I see the 3 managers and they say to me, "You know, we have been noticing your job performance lately... and let us say that you've been doing an excellent job. That brings us to the point of the meeting, you're promoting you to the senior tech position."

I was like omg, wha??? Then I accepted the job. I think they did that one bit just to screw with me so I would think I'm in trouble or something.

Oh man I just found out some people are pissed off cuz I've only been here 7 months while some of them have been here for as many as 5 years. My bosses say it as purely a merit promotion because since I've been at the company, our clients have been telling them they notice a considerable improvement in the level of service they have been getting (I nag at my coworkers to be nice to our bitchy clients).

I guess it also helps when you have a BSEE while everyone else has no degrees or one of those certifications. I do IT support. Thanks everyone I'd take you all out for a beer if you were nearby.

My uncle says the pay sucks for this, but claims that if you are into your job, you will learn a lot of both corporate trash and stuff about the country normal people are not supposed to know.

My uncle says the pay sucks for this, but claims that if you are into your job, you will learn a lot of both corporate trash and stuff about the country normal people are not supposed to know.

yeah somep eople can be like that, esp. if they've been there forever. but really they should get the hint after 2 years that if they haven't asked you to take on more responsibilities, you probably will never be asked to.

Yeah I'm going to get a raise, it's around 5-10k. They haven't announced it to the group yet so I haven't gotten the official letter. My boss said they'll make the announcement sometime today and then HR will get me the offer letter early next week. Time to do some more shopping for yours truly
