Local Exxon seem to have the lowest price for gas, so I went in since i had very little left, but when i got to the pump i read the following.

2.91 cash
3.01 credit

I was like damn! tricky bastards.

Those always bother me. It used to be cheaper at virtually all gas stations for cash. But that trend mostly died away. However, there are those few holdouts left. They may get a few more pennies from me the first time. But then I never stop there again and they lose my business forever.

And no, there is no law against it. Most CC contracts state the business cannot charge more. However not all CCs have this as a requirement. And even then, with millions of customers, there is no enforcement by the CCs of this contract stipulation.

those who live in NYC: found a few $2.93 regular unleaded gas station (guess its heading down but a lot of places are still above 3 bucks)
weirdly, one on the Grand Central Parkway (queens / francis lewis blvd section). i expect NYC highway pitstops should be the highest of them all

I think they can't charge extra for CC pricing. IE I can sell something for $104 Paypal..or offer a $4 discount for money order..without 'charging extra' for Paypal.

Bj's is a member price, you pay cheaper if you are a member whether cash or credit. I usually go there but when i saw the price of this exxon i was hooked but obviously i ended up paying the same.

I've never seen that. Around here is the same for cash or credit. I normally use my debit card or credit card for gas at the pump to avoid going inside.

i think they get around it by saying there is a "cash discount" so technically they aren't raising the price for credit cards
