So I bought this hat at the Mall on Saturday. It costed $18.46, thats what the store receipt stated. I took a look at my bank statement and there is a debit authorization for $78.46 from the hat store (Lids). I looked back at the receipt and it states 18.46, but stapled to the receipt is the credit card receipt and it states $78.46.

Who should contact first, the bank or the store? I think I probably have to physically go to the store to resolve this.

I would contact the Store first - must be a simple mistake

But they will probably have me come down and show them the receipt right? pain in my butt. I'm glad i caught the mistake and didnt throw the receipt away.

Yeah, you'll need to go to the store with your store register receipt and your CC receipt. What happened was that the item rang up properly on the register, but when the clerk punched the amount into the CC device for authorization, he hit a 7 instead of a 1.
