Congrats

Flown much since you've got it?

I flew abt 50 miles back to the airport from which I flew out of. The weather has sucked since. I think ill go up tomorrow. Im going to make a career of this.. (im 17 rite now)

Yes, you can get it at 16 actually, and can solo at 15. You neeed to be 18, however, for commercial ratings and 23 for airline and dispatch work, I believe.

Have fun gettin those $100 hamburgers!

If you plan to make a career out of it... keep goin for your instrument and commercial ratings, and DO get a 4-year degree! If you're lucky, you can find a way to skip the whole CFI route but for a lot of folks it is a valuable stepping stone. All depends on your situation. Aviation is also huge on networking, many times it's now what you know but who you know, you know?

/me eyes his Aero Ace and wimpers

Cheers on getting your ticket! 😀

Go for it bubba! Congratulations on your accomplishment.

<-- Jealous. I took some lessons in High School and really wanted to get my license but neither I or my parents could afford it. 🙁 Congrats and good luck in the future!

Congrats!

I was going to insert a funny comment about putting a towel around your head, but thought better of it 😉 Good luck!

Thanks everyone. And by the way its solo at 16, license at 17 and for the rest of the ratings, im not quite sure, but 18 sounds rite to me for commercial.

Don't even bother trying to go that route. If he wants to be a commercial pilot he should join the air force and fly a cargo plane. He'll have wayyyyyyyyyyy more flight hours and he'll have experience flying heavy aircraft.

A Civ pilot license and a 4 year degree won't do anything for you.

congrats ta8689! welcome to the club. there are several pilots on ATOT.

<--instrument rated private pilot, working on commercial and CFI.

Thanks! Ive been flying since I was 8 years old, and logging time since I was 12.

Oh and 91TTZ, I looked into Parks College in St. Louis, and apparently, airlines will take people straight out of college and train them with their aircraft. But you are rite in the fact that the Air Force is a very good way to do it.

Man, I hope you don't have a beard/look Arab/are a Muslim. Getting investigated by the FBI FTL.

Cheers on the license, though! 🙂
