i installed the drivers from nvidia.com.
I played JK2, and the game seemed kinda "grainy", and 1280, all settings maxed. i was playing around and somethings were not really right,

my question, would the drivers on the cd be better, or the drivers from nvidia.com be better?

or if someone could link me to the MSI updated drivers.

Did you fully uninstall and cleanout your previous video card drivers?

TomsHardware.com says it has the very crappy image quality. sorry ;(

I think he's referring to this article at toms hardware in which the msi receives a 5 on a scale of 1-6 rating image quality (1 being the best). The article states that the msi 4400 suffers from an unsharp image w/ghosting. It also says results may differ on different monitors. That said, I doubt the image is that bad. It's possible something else is up with your card. Its something to keep in mind though.

Edit: The image was rated at 1600x1200.

I don't have the MSI card, but my PNY Ti 4200 came with the most recent detonator drivers on the CD. The most recent 'official' drivers are the 28.32 - check to see what's on your CD.

Hmm, sounds like you might have a bad card.

MSI has some new drivers on their site.. 29.xx or something like that. With them and the MSI overclocking tool included, I'm running mine at 300/650, no probs.. (Evidence) I doubt it's a bad card. As to whoever said it had bad image quality.. grainyness isn't a component of image quality, blurryness and ghosting are mostly that. I notice no difference between my MSI GF4 and my Gainward GF2 Pro. Anyways..

I know that if ya push an overclock too far you can get grainyness, artifcats, or both.. and if you're not overclocking your card, then I'd see if I could RMA it for another. Sounds like a hardware problem, and MSI's Ti4400's do seem to have quite a few clunkers in there. When ya get a nice one though, it's a very sweet card. Don't give up yet :)

I installed the newest drivers but they messed up the MSI Clock utility in the Display control panel. Instead of the 250-350 core clock and 500-700 memory clock options, the sliders were 0-275 and 0-554. Needless to say when I dragged the slider to 0 (without pressing "apply" mind you) the system froze. I reinstalled the 27.50 drivers on the CD and will not mess with newer driver versions unless there is a good reason to do so, since MSI's utilities aren't compatible with nVidia drivers.

Strangely enough, the stupid Flash overclicking utility works fine with either version.
