i got my MCP cert today :)

I just passed teh 70-210 test today. (thats the w2k pro test) and i'm wondering what kinda work i can get with it?

doh. i was hoping for a little better than that. i'm going for a+ (useless) network+ and w2k server next.

I was probably exaggerating a tad bit, but from what I've heard around here, the MCP cert is useless in terms of getting a good job.

With your MCP and a little experience, you might be able to get yourself a tier-1 helpdesk job or something.

Just don't expect them to throw you at the top of the IT hierarchy because of a few certs. I know people who take the MS certs as a hobby (this excludes the MCSD )

IT jobs are all about connections, unfortunately. I have an MCP but got a good consulting job (ok, decent, not good - $14.35/hr, highest pay they could give a student), but mainly because of who, not what, I knew.

Don't let them get you down.... I have a MCP and I work in a large corporate MIS department for 25/hour. I will be over 30/hour in Feb.

Of course, I have some UNIX (Sun and HP) and a college degree.
