Well, i got my video card yesterday and i thought i'd give ita real solid test drive with DOOM III. Video card is Geforce FX 5200 128mb. After hearing so many negative things about it, i am more the satisfyed with how it handles the games i play. Battlefield 1942 with everything to 100%, smoooth as milk, Americas Army, Outside Radio tower solid 30FPS+, inside 60 to 80. Now to DOOM III. When walking around in the Game, good 20 to 25FPS, when up close in combat with 2 monsters, down to 7, up to wall 40+. I am MORE THE SATISFYED, A CARD FOR 100 BUX, i have heard so many negative things i thought i bought a garbage, i wish i could somehow attach the screenshots i took, if yes and if someone wants to see them, let me know, i am glad ispentmy $100 on this, i hear some peoplke cant even run this game with their ATI 9000+, and if yes, FPS are too low.

Thnx everyone.

heh, sounds like maybe nVidia didnt make such a huge screwup with the FX line according to what you say :) Of course, how it performs and how people view it is the basis of those comments. If they've used only ATI cards before, of course they will be a little biased and try to point out fault and not the creamy goodness (.. god im hungry T__T). Personally, i think the 5200's and 5600's could be the part of the FX line where nvidia will make most of its money. Have fun with the card :)

I Aggree.
The thing that puts most people off the 5800`s is both the price, and the noise.
The 5600 and the 5200 cards will be very interesting products. OC`d they`ll be even better. If i didnt upgrade to a 9700pro in february, then either a 5600 or a 5200 would be in my rig at the moment.
Although FX cards are critisised, they are actually very good cards, just not as good as people expected. Too much hype has made most people think that the FX series are crap, when they are not.

Nothing can live up to hype, the FX5200 is a good video card with alot of promise. It does however need better performing drivers which is where Nvidia have been abit slow. I personally think the FX5200 is going to be a major success story for Nvidia, video card makers love the FX5200. You can get a XFX Geforce FX5200 128mb DVI TVO for only £75 here in the UK which makes it roughly the same price as a 128mb Radeon 9000 Pro. I know first hand how well the FX5200 is selling, your average consumers just can't buy them quick enough.

Making any kind of judgement of a video card based on its Doom III performance doesn't make any sense at this point. It is a leaked, completely unoptimized demo that you're running, and therefore is going to be buggy, and probably doesn't even work on some cards because it was never intended to.

Now your scores on the other games show the card to be a decent performer at that price, but forget about testing anything on Doom III until an actual release comes out from ID.

nemesismk2, where abouts in the UK can you get a FX for £75?
Do they have an online shop.
Im just curious really, cos my usual hardware places, OC UK & The OC Store, only advertise the arrival of 9800`s.

Sorry I'm not willing to tell anyone where to find them because I've been buying them cheap at trade prices and making a large profit on each one sold. It's a sellers market right now and enterprising people like me are making a killing, thank god for Nvidia! :D

Well actually, buying the cards cheap makes it a buyer's market for you (from your source, since they have to undercut the competition to get your business). However, once it's in your hands, to everyone else it's a seller's market. Lucky!
