I got my annual raise today

2% is not great, but it depends on the sector that you work in, position, performance, company earing, etc... It might be to your advantage to look for another job if you feel that you are not going to get much opotunity out of your present employer.

good luck!

I just had my review at work... Received 8-10's/10 in all categories and no mention of a raise. I didn't ask about it at the time thinking it would just show up in my paycheck but nope...

Gonna have to talk to my manager about it. I was hoping for 8-10%.

I work as a software dev...

that sucks. tough conversation to bring up

2% of what is an important question, too.

I suppose if you have to ask if it's good you probably aren't in the financial awareness of someone making enough for 2% to still be decent money.

My raise this year was 3.7%... but 3.7% of crap in a crap job is still crap. 🙁

Just be glad you get yearly raisies, i have to beg and plead for one every year, sometimes i get one sometimes i don't

at my first job everyone got a mandatory pay cut. 10% for managers and above; everyone else got 5%. needless to say i didn't stick around there for long, i was out in under a year.

Heck, I work for the government and we have to go on strike to get 7% over 3 years (excluding inflation) while my father used to get 5-10% a year in the private sector!

I am going on 5 years in June and will be heading on my 3rd strike at the same time as I changed union. They are offering us something that amounts to -1% for the first year and 0-1% for the next 3 years excluding inflation!

It's funny how I make more money on paper every year and yet end up losing at the same time.

My last review gave me a raise of about 10%. Of course that raise only put me at parity with what the new hires were getting as their starting salary. But alas, I'm scheduled for an early review in the next week or so due to a promotion back in March. YAY (for 2%...).

It's not good, but it's the same amount that I got. Needless to say, there's alot of pissed off people at my work. And they aren't in upper management.

I just got a 6% yearly raise. Should have gotten more because our company supposedly had one of it's most profitable years ever. But they never share that with us workers... 🙂

Everyone should get a raise each year to adjust for inflation at least IMO. If you like the guy and he performs good give him a little bigger raise to beat inflation. But to give someone a raise lower than inflation or none at all is akin to taking a pay cut.

2% is a major insult to your superior skills and knowledge. You should go in today and sh*t on your boss's disk, and demand at least 10% or you walk...

OR, if maybe you're not REALLY worth more than that, live with it...
