I had that problem one year - mole killer worked pretty well. Just find one of their tunnels (easy to find because of the tracks on the ground), dig a little hole, and dump a few pellets in. Of course they destroyed the garden before I destroyed them...

Yup. Those cat things work wonders. Labs like to dig up moles and eat them, too. The little pink mole babies must be tasty.

Our dog (border collie) has cleaned the whole neighborhood of these varmints.

If you don't want a dog, my grandfather used to have these mole traps consisting of 3 ten inch spikes that were spring loaded. The trap would be mounted over a mole path, when the mole went under the mechanism the spikes would impale the mole.

You can't use an airgun? If so I would as they've helped me with a ground hog or two. Other than that try the traps.

My 3 mini Daschunds catch them all the time (large greenbelt behind my house) They are unbeliveable hunters, birds, rabbits, squirrels.

They are there because there is a food source. Get rid of the ood source and the moles will leave.

If you go to home depot or lowes they have some stuff made with some type of oil you can spray in the yard and it drive them away. It works fairly well but only last about two months or so. Its kind oily so you have to wait a day to go back in the yard.

If you have moles, then it's very likely that you also have grubs: moles eat grubs (among other things).

Begin by treating your yard with Grub-X or similar anti-grub treatment. One the food is gone, the moles will also be gone.

(The oil mentioned above is Castor oil .... Castor oils is another anti-grub treatment for the lawn ... no grubs, no moles).

There are several types of mechanical mole-traps (really mole killers), the downside there is that you usually have to clean them off after they have dispatched the pesky moles (and the carcases attract scavengers, like 'possum & skunk).

If you use kill traps, check them often and keep them clean.

Good Luck

Cool good stuff. I forgot the name of the oil. I didn't even know how it worked. Now I do :)
