I got laid off...woohoo!

My friend got laid off a couple of months ago, no severance, no warning, nothing. And they have exclusive rights to all the software he wrote for them.
 
I just got laid off too. b*stards!!! I feel your pain.
You would think that I would be pretty stable with seven years with the company. They did pay out pretty nice though. Caxhed out all me vacation hrs(200). Gave me two weeks for every year worked there(total 14weeks) as severence. Plus two weeks for signing a paper saying I wouldn't sue them. 21 total weeks.
 
its so scary..............that people are getting laid off..........................

I know i wont be next because I am only part time right now and I am needed...........but the whole computer science industry is in recession...........my future dont look too bright.
 
welcome to the club. at least you got a severance package. i didn't get squat.

don't forget to sign up for unemployment. those checks really help out.

and start job hunting early, unless of course you want to take a break for now. 😉

hard to find a job.... I sent like 40-50 applications and only automatic replies...maybe because I have about 2 years experience..they are all looking for senior people now.... this sucks....
