Hi Ho,

I was recently at the Apple store, and they said they were going to kick me out if I kept drooling all over the cinema display.:)P) I want to get one for my PC but they use the ADC (Apple Direct Connection) you can buy a Doctor Bots Switch box for about $140. Any one have any luck using the Doctor Bots, or know anyone that has used the cinema Display on a PC? Or maybe you have some suggestions on what flat screen I should get that is comparable to the apple cinema display?

Chill Often,

-Bedlamite-

Ps: a standers monitor cable is BGA what does this stand for?

I assume you mean 22" (inches). I've used pc monitor on a mac, but have had bad luck with some older monitors working on a pc with the mac video to db15 video connector. I think most new ones will work, but I was using some older graphics editing monitor with a weird signal frequency or something (the vendor representative spoke engrish instead of english.

heheheh

I love the 22" cinema, it's amazing. There is another question, will your video card support those kind of resolutions? The aspect ration on that thing is not natural :)

"Don't macs just use regular ATI cards? "

Yes,
Most Macs I have ripped open have the Rage ATI card: when I said
ADC (Apple Direct Connection) this is referring to the special Mac power cord. It hooks right up to the Mac, kind of neat. But sucks for someone like me that wants the flat panel to work with the PC.

I guess apple want to keep the good stuff to them self?s.:frown:

Just get the Lucky Goldstar one. They're the ones who actually make the panel for apple. It has the same poor, last generation specs:

Lucky Goldstar Electronics FLATRON LCD 285LT

22" Widescreen 1600x1024
180 nits brightness (most monitors are 200-250nits now, with even bottom of the line ones doing 200nits)
300:1 contrast (not bad for last generation. This generation is mostly 350:1 to 500:1)
Response Time: 60ms (yep, forget playing games or watching videos without ghosting. Not exactly "Lightning-fast" as Apple claims, unless they're comparing it to a passive matrix model)
Backlight: 4 CCFL Lamps (if you've heard complaints about large monitors with only 6 CCFL lamps, 4 is a lot worse)

As an added bonus, you get the following inputs:

Analog VGA, Digital DVI, S-Video, and AIV jacks

Don't SGI make 22" flat panels?

They probably cost the same as an Apple, look great and even hook up to a PC :)

EDIT: arrgh just checked, they only make 18" and it isn't wide screen, but the coolness factor of the SGI logo pretty much makes up for that LINKY
