I got an email today from the Star Wars Galaxies people. Turns out I was accepted and once they review my specifications (had to send them a dxdiag) ill be playing. I've had great luck this year in getting into betas, like the Warcraft 3, Earth and Beyond, Dragon Empires (although that hasnt started) and now this. This kicks ass I just wish i had more time to play video games

What time did you get it?

I put in my eudoramail.com address when I applied, and that service has a bad rep for dropping emails.

But where will you play it? It's a MMORPG, so the servers/accounts are kind of necessary to play... :p

Official time for my email: 1:40PM Mountain time.

My specs : Athlon 1700+
GF2 Ultra
512MB

And bootleg would probably suck for this, since it wouldnt really be on the massive server, and the W3 demo bootleg really was a joke compared to the quality of the demo.

I almost feel guilty about getting it when so many people who love Star Wars alot more than me probably wont get it. Oh well ;-)

No, the only MMRPG I ever even tried before was my beta of Earth and Beyond. I didnt even get a chance to play much of that either. I never wanted to get my life drained away and money sucked monthly by a MMRPG. I'll probably just put maybe a few hours a week in this since i never seem to have too much time for video games anyway. But if its alot of fun I'll probably sink alot more in.

I got into the E&B beta too, but I think at that point they were letting everyone who signed up in. Played for a couple of days, was unimpressed, and uninstalled it. Maybe I'm not the MMORPG kind of person.

No email from SW Galaxies though. Can't remember if I signed up or not. That one looks like it'd have potential, but I really don't see myself paying to play it.

This beta will be like Earth and Beyond, not like Warcraft 3. In W3 all the testers started at the same time and apathy generally consumed them all. In Star Wars, a small group starts out testing first, and more and more testers are added over time to gradually stress the servers and to keep minds and attitudes fresh. I think its a much better approach.

If you go to the SW Galaxies web page, you can sign up there. You've got to be a sony station member, as well as a SW Galaxies fan club member. IF they let you in, it'll probably be somewhere close to the games release (like 2-3 weeks before the game ships).

I dont think I'm a SW Galaxies fan member. If I am, I just did it to sign up for the beta.
