Well, I opened the mail today, and I had a nice acceptance letter from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Well, since I got deferred to normal admissions from MIT, and RPI has given me a 15,000 dollar a year scholarship, I believe I am going there. Well, i just felt I should share this with a community I enjoy being a part of.

Congrats!

Don't waste any of the time there. Party hard (on the weekends), study hard. When your done, you won't regret it.

Good job, RPI is a great school. What's your major going to be?
I want to dual major Electrical Engineering and Computer Science; or Electrical Engineering and Computer Systems Engineering.

Good work!

Free advice from a geezer (BS CS '91): you can get out of it as much as you want to. If you just want to get the "piece of paper" you can, or you can enjoy it and get much more for a bit more work.

Even your side courses outside your major can be worthwhile if you pick ones that interest you instead of ones people say are "easy As." I liked my CS and math courses, but also enjoyed classes in writing (non-technical), art & literature, even a non-Western music class. Take the chance to expand your mind in a structured setting.

Thanks for the advice. I will definitely take it into consideration.
