Yet Another Concert/Music Thread & Yet Another Car Thread/Yet Another Car Accident Thread. :)

So here's how my day went:

2PM: Leave house for Summer Sanitarium Tour, starts at 3.
2:25: Get in car accident...I was stopped in traffic on the highway, with a Cherokee behind me. All of a sudden, the Cherokee hits me! I'm okay, make sure the people in the car are okay, turn off the car, and bolt out of the car as fast as I can to find out what happened. (2001 Blazer...not too great of a car, but I love my possessions...I go crazy when someone does something to anything of mine) Turns out this stupid motherfvcking kid, probably 16 or 17, hit the Cherokee at about 70MPH, straight on...it had just rained, so I imagine that had something to do with it, but still. My first reaction was to yell for them to get out of the car and kick their asses...once again, my temper is very good, but certain things set me off. But I see how young and stupid they look, so I ask if everyone's okay (their car is totaled, along with the Cherokee)...we all wait for the police, and finish everything from there. The back of the Blazer is all smashed up, no rear windshield, and the front bumper fell off because I actually hit the car in front of me as well (they drove off!). Everybody's okay, except for the whiplash...wish I had the cam to take some pics.

Final words: Summer Sanitarium was AWESOME. All the bands were amazing, and as much as I don't like Limp Bizkit/Fred Durst, their live show is very energetic. Metallica was just godlike. They played for 2.75 hours, and hit a ton of their classics, and only had 2 or 3 songs from St. Anger (which pleased me much). This is probably the best concert I've ever seen, and it'll take a while to beat it.

As for the accident, can someone with experience (unfortunately) or a legal background tell me how I can go about suing or just getting money from the kids? I'm not letting them get away with such a stupid move...they ruined my day, made me miss part of the concert, and now my mother's making me go on a trip with the family (sister's visiting East Coast colleges) so she can watch over me. no argument can be made, I HAVE to go. I'm sure I'll have a very sore neck tomorrow...my sister took it worse since she was in the back, and my friend can't turn his head to the left. I want blood, but I'll settle for money. He fvcked my car, my day, and now my week. I want that bastard to pay. For those of you saying "that's wrong", fvck off...you go get hit by a car and tell me you're fine.

Sorry for the long rant, but no cliff notes. I think I deserve it.

edit: Title changed...thought I'd amuse myself, but apparently people are fed up with excessive acronyms. :)

First thing is to make sure they got insurance. If they do, then you're all covered for chiropractor visits. Take it from me, if you don't get that whiplash taken care of quickly.....you're neck/spine will heal incorrectly. And once that happens, it's permanent. That's what happened to me and the cervical part of my spine is FUBAR'd for good. Not the most comfortable thing in the world.

As for suing, I'm sure finding a lawyer won't be hard. All you gotta do is sit in front of the TV during the day and you'll find yourself a lawyer. That or open up the Yellow Pages.

Well, greetings all from Philly. :) The neck is quite stiff today, but with this trip, I guess my hopes of getting any additional money are out the window. Around here, I think Lee Bernstein is the guy ;)

On the other hand...what good places to see in Philly? I guess we'll be here til Tuesday...I want to check out the malls and downtown, but anything specific? danke.

American Sue Culture............

I would just get the dam car fixed up on his insurance.

If you sue you probably won't get much but saying this THIS IS AMERICA and I've probably read more stupid things winning in court............

Why sue the guy if no one was remotely *badly* hurt? Just hassle imo.

Yeah, the hassle's about the main reason. Normally I'm a very forgiving person, but something like this...I hate stupid people. Yes, that may be a double-standard since I'm doing may be stupid, but if he hadn't been driving 70MPH into a STOPPED lane of cars in the rain...then maybe I wouldn't have to bother with this.

Like I said, I know people won't approve, but I don't give a fvck. He ruined my day, my week, and I want to do everything in my power, short of a drive-by, to make his life hell.

:D

Have you ever been in a semi serious accident? It sucks. You might not feel it now, but later it all comes back. He will want to sue to get money for future pain and suffering, because this accident sounded pretty serious.

I think the guy in the front that you hit should sue you...you are really totally at fault for hitting him.

+ anyone that puts Metallica and the phrase 'pleased me very much' together needs to be removed from the gene pool.

If your insurance rates go up, don't forget to sue for those costs as well......

WTF are you talking about clownface? He was rear-ended and pushed into the car infront of him. And please do tell us what "good" music you listen to.

so the people who caused the accidents are 16-17 and are damn young whippersnappers . . . and yet you still have to do as moms sez, huh? what are you? 18? 17? 20?

I know, I know, their fault, and a dumb mistake, but you make it sound like you are 25-30 in your post . . . .

proper fallowing distance, proper stopping distance, if you stop so close to someone that you get hit from the rear and hit the person infront of you, your at fault for hitting the person in front of you.

Technically he is correct, you are at fault for hitting the car in front of you. I think you are over reacting by sueing. You were in such pain and suffering that you still could go to a concert (you probably hurt your neck in the mosh pit or something ;) ). I would do the honorable thing and just let his insurance handle the damage.

I listen to Metallica...I never use "Metallica pleases me very much". My face is very un-clownlike...however I am sure the repeated droppings as an infant has blurred your vision somewhat.

If you leave at least a full car space between you, instead of insisting on riding on someone's bumper at a red light you can avoid a lot of problems. If you get hit at a stop with less than enough force to kill you outright, yet still hit the car in front of you: YOU ARE TOO CLOSE end of story...goodbye....the end.

I have logged up to 5,000 miles in a month and I have avoided a lot of near clusterfvc|<s because I have left a car between me. I always have at least 3 seconds between me and the car in front of me also...I have been rear-ended 5 times as a 'kid'.

So if he ***WANTS*** to sue because someone hit him, I say let the guy that was hit in front sue him since if he left more space he #1 would never have contacted his car and #2 never been put in the option for financial gain based on an accident that he could have prevented me being involved in.

HUH?

If you get hit in the rear you get a free pass for hitting the car in front of you. It is the law. If you were able to stop before you got hit, that is all that counts.

BTW- Michigan is no-fault. You won't be able to sue. Your own insurance will take care of your losses unless your car was parked and unattended.
