As the title states. I am no longer employed by that office space rip off of a company. The process followed a bizzare pattern where by basically posting my resume on Monster knowing HR would find it set the ball in motion. The following Monday after posting my resume I was called into my boss's office where he asked me what else I was unhappy about besides money. About a week or so later I got a meeting request via Outlook to meet with my boss's boss, the VP of Finance and Administration. We had a similar talk and he basically told me that what he had in front of him was telling him that I was not committed to the company. He asked me to go home that night and think things over and come back the next day and tell him if I was committed to the company or not. I came back the next day and told him that with the way that things currently are that I was not committed to the company in the way that they would like. He then told me that they have a company policy of not keeping people that are not committed to the company. He told me that he would then have to have a meeting with my boss either late Friday (4/2) or Monday. So today around quarter to five I get a call from the head of HR asking me to stop by her office if I was not busy. I walked over and she was there with my boss and basically told me that they would be letting me go and that they had to collect all of my keys, passcards, and backup tapes. I was escorted back to my desk where I picked up my personal items and was then escorted to the lobby while she waited for me to get the rest of the tapes from my car. They will be paying me through monday the 12th.

While some would probably be terrified to lose their job this was part of a larger plan that I had concocted and enacted once conditions were right. I had started a business with a close friend and the business was at the point that I needed to make a full time commitment to my own business to make it work.

So thats about it, I am now free of that job, although I will miss some of the people that I worked with as they were really great people.

I am now venturing towards my dreams of entrepreneurship and am not looking back with any regrets.

Wish me luck! :D:beer:

That was part of the plan. Why I set myself up the way I did rather than walkin into my boss's office and tellin him to shove it (but not so politely) ;)

Basically we're taking over my partner's dad's dealership. We're doing the buying and remarketing of the cars. I don't wanna get into too much info fearing a smackdown from the mods. So if anyone wants more info or possibly a really really good deal on a car PM me.

At my former employer, my boss called me into his office to ask me about my resume being on various job posting sites. He went into the whole "commitment' spiel that you received too. I actually kind of liked the job. The technology they were using sucked but I was getting great experience working with clients. Plus, being a European company trying to work its way into the USA, the benefits were pretty much unmatchable. Pretty much everyone in the company had their resume out there just to have it out there. To this day, I'm still not sure why he was questioning my commitment. Probably because there had already been several people that recently left.

Now, here's the punchline. Immediately after receiving his American citizenship a couple of months later, my boss showed his commitment by leaving for another company.

You're lucky around my parts if they fire you they wont even let you go back to your desk. Someone will go get your bags and they will send all of your other possessions to you through the mail. It's complete BS but that is just one of the MANY reasons I hate HR.

Well done! That was a clever way to get out of your job. Too bad they don't have a better severance package. Good luck with your new venture!

I managed to get myself fired from a job with 2 weeks severance plus a bonus. LoL I was told my "Customer service skills were not up to par". Me. LoL! But they gave me this big fat check.

A severance package automatically qualified me for FUNemployment. :D

Depends on what state you live in. You can be fired without cause in some states.

Oh come on! I have to think you're just not trying, SSSLACKERRRRRR

I have never been fired, I only half heartedly tried to get fired from one job, it ended up being that if they were not complaining about my behaviour (stuff I was doing to get fired) then it wasnt a half bad place to work. I was sleeping at my desk thinking they would fire me but my boss just gave advice on when and where to sleep so no one would catch on

sorry to say, but that was probably the worst plan I've ever heard! You should've been more subtle...that way, when they let you go, they're required to pay you 2 month severance :D ;)
