I got crabs this weekend.

It's Dungeness crab season out here in California. My wife and I headed over to Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing for some Cioppino on Saturday.

We bought 4 fresh crabs, and I steamed them up yesterday for dinner. I love crab season.

Indeed they do. It's a pretty short season - I think they only got two weeks and are limited to the number of pots per run they can lay.

Served with butter. Also had sourdough and a spicy cole slaw.

I was gonna invite you over to Wauconda for some ice fishing in Jan, way to ruin a guys plans! I even was gonna bring a cooler to keep the beer warm enough so it doesn't freeze!

It was $3.49/lb.

edit, LOL I had 2.49. Now that would be really cheap.

That might explain why the maine lobster I've had in California are about 1/5 as good as the one's I've had in New England.

I love Dungeness crabs. cheapest season is typically over before Thanksgiving, but sometimes instead of making Turkey, everyone gets their own steamed crab.
