Quite a few sheets are sold as full/queen. Meaning they are 2" too big for full and 2" too short for queen. People with full beds tuck them under a bit more and don't know the difference. People with queen beds stretch them a bit and don't know the difference.

That and the fact that some mattresses are 14" thick and others are 18" thick. Right there is 4" and you don't notice the difference. The sheets have leeway and they fit. You don't have to be an idiot to find full/queen sheets that fit a full bed.
