You call what you are suggesting grace? If that's true I'm the one who should be asking for help. Wisdom is a tendency to make decisions that have desireable consequences. Honor, on the other hand, is the willful acceptance of the consequences of one's actions irregardless of how desireable they may be.

You need to reread this thread. I am a follower of Ayn Rand and the OP in no way is emulating that philosophy.

The OP is exhibiting the behavior of nothing more than a spoiled brat interested in only themselves.

I think you need to understand that virtuous selfishness is a philosophical mirage. Each person's selfishness defines its own boundaries and rationale for actions taken to achieve self interest. You judging other people's perception on merit (based on "objective principles") contradicts the theory's postulated respect for other people's selfishness.
Take our poor OP for example. He sees interest in downloading the movie without paying and NBC sees interest in making some revenue. Calling one immoral and the other moral is arbitrary according to objectivism's own conditions.

The euphimism 'Rational egoism" is only a contrived ideological trap for the intellectual ethical man. It functions as an alibi which eliminates the qualms about eating other animals to succeed in the capitalist jungle. And for the more plain minded, it's just another bad moto: "Being selfish is right!"

Sorry, but trying to assign some noble motives or wrapping the OPs actions in a circular argument doesn't make the thief anything more than a thief. The OP's actions do not reflect the virtues capitalism or anything else Rand was proposing.

I did not assign any noble motives nor did I argue that theft is not theft. I indirectly suggested that it would be wise of people to revise their capitalist ideals because they are narrowing their perception of virtue to values dictated solely by their egoism and they are mere moral whitewash of their ruthlessness in obtaining and preserving controversial privileges.

Touting of Rand's bogus philosophy is another project of plutocracy's think tank in convincing that the behavioural model it has based its dominance over the world is meritorious. The OP is a clear example of how the indoctrination of society with such ill-conceived ideas comes to bite you in the arse eventually.

Selfishness is wrong and it stays that way.
