By sheer chance - I picked up the late 2008 model off of ebay and got my wife the Pro since she wanted it (and I wanted the free iPod touch :)).

So - what do you guys want to know?

First impressions and probably the most common question:

- The screen viewing angles ARE way better on the pro. However, the unibody is a tad brighter. If they weren't side by side - I wouldn't have noticed I don't think. But the viewing angles are night and day.

Honestly other than that, I don't notice a difference (other than the obvious backlit keyboard but the 2008 model can come with that).

I'm not a Mac user - pretty much my first day as well as my wife's. She was just impressed with it so we went all out.

Any questions you guys have? If you want me to check settings (other than going to "About this Mac...") you will probably have to tell me how :)

Fire away.

I was informed this comes in the mail in about 6-8 weeks.

Yea but once the novelty wears off... you need to feed it, and pen it, and you have to walk it, and you know that you are just going to forget about it after a few weeks anyone, and it will just sit in the corner, gathering dust.

Man those mail-in rebates never come through, what a scam :( Never should have listened to that weird little green guy...I KNEW something was off when I saw the credit card reader instead of a pot of gold at the end of that Apple Store rainbow! :|

Edit: The Leuprachuan in a black turtleneck should have been my first clue :p

The RDF (Reality Distortion Field) always wears off after a few weeks. I never forget to keep it waxed like they say...

Thanks for the heads up about the displays. That was my main concern. I still will probably stick with the 15" version though when I upgrade. I like the form factor of the 13", but really like the extra resolution in the 15".

Legitimate question: How difficult is it to replace the memory and hard drive?

Legitimate answer:
10 screws to remove the bottom
3 screws to remove battery (this does not have to be removed to remove anything else)
2-3 screws to remove hard drive (this also does not have to be removed to get at anything else)
Standard RAM removal process

Care to commend on the warranty in this case?

The hard drive and RAM can be replaced without breaking the warranty. The battery cannot.

Is there documentation stating this somewhere?
