Anybody wanna divulge in how they did some of the special effects? I haven't seen it at the local laser disc rental shop I usually visit (although i did see it at the theater!).

Hmmm.. what vid card do you have? I don't have a DVD drive, but I was watching mine on a friend's machine and it looked *much* better. Maybe it's the low resolution?

ati rage pro. I was using a software deocder to do the vid capturing, and it only lets you capture it at a low resultion, like 700/400 or something stupid like that. I usually use the ati cards hardware decoding, and yoru right it usually looks a little better than that..but its good enough for me. I would like to see it on a huge HDTV screen though. I would use a big smiley at this point, but well, the enw smileys suck donkey balls.

i use powerDVD to do captures on DVD when i want to... enlarge with photoshop, and it still looks okay. powerDVD captures at the DVD's natural resolution.

Sure here's one:

That scene where it goes slow mo and rotates around her doing her kicky-in-the-facey thing:

They had 120 still cameras in a circular formation around the scene, and each one took a pic a fraction of a second after the other. Put them altogether and you have 4 seconds of slow-mo circling around the action.

seb - acctaully with 120 cameras its 5 seconds of rotation (movies are 24 fps). After the Matrix did that special effect TONS of tv shows, movies, everything really started copying... it got kinda lame really :)

Another way some people did it was to use much much less cameras and just merge the frames around. It wasnt true rotation or whatever but it usually looked close enough.

Well here in the UK TV is 25fps, I thought I'd be clever and use american at 30fps. Guess I was wrong . . . :(

These new smilies suck. Surely it's a doddle to use the old ones?
