Ok, now that we have the first half of the story, what's <paulharveyvoice> the rest of the story</paulharveryvoice>?

Were the coupons actually provided to you by Dell, or did you "find" them "somewhere else" ?

It might be worth warning Hot Deals if Dell is cracking down on coupon abuse by banning people.

Though since it's the IP address they might just be blocking people who spend over an hour straight playing with configurations, thinking it's some new twist on Distributed-Denial-Of-Service attacks.

You do realize that they probably didn't bother to put HIS specific IP into the server as a "deny" address? If you make an inclusion list in IIS and don't include an address, by default the "your IP list has been forbidden" message will come up if you're not in the inclusion list. Likewise, if Dell banned an entire subnet for DoS attacks, he very well may be in that subnet.

Are there any other computers you can try to get to Dell's site on? If they're in the same subnet as yours, you can test hx009's theory.

Good idea. Disconnecting your dialup / cable / DSL to get a new IP address might have the same effect.

Well yes, since 99% of dialup / cable / DSL addresses are dynamically assigned it wouldn't make too much sense to put any of them on a permanent denial list.

A portsentry temporary block on the subnet because of some other user seems the most likely cause, followed by the continuous configuration attempts triggering a "suspicous behavior" rule triggering a temporary block. But it's more amusing to think they've singled out CrazyDe1 :)

After I hit the logitechwireless.com site about a trillion times trying to win a free mouse/keyboard combo, I began to get the same thing from them. Our web filter software at work blocked the site.... :p
