I have a CDR/RW I wanna keep, and I want a Athlon with DDR. GF2. Most for my hard earned dollar. Good software package (With AV, etc) System restore and/or imaging software. I want a good color bubble jet printer. I'd like a 15" LCD monitor if possible (Viewsonic has a good cheap one) Plus lots of bells, whistles, USB plugs up front, built in french fry cutter, etc.

Anyone know of a system close to this? I want something stable and reliable, not some fly by night company or something thrown together by a college student after smoking three bowls in 27 minutes. Something like a HP or Compuke.

build your own foolish monel, one must have the aquired knowledge to build computers if you are so in tune with zen that your golf balls hit flying birds as they pass by.

Too much trouble. I'm sick of 18 crashes a day, and having to fight with it. Its going to be used for business/gaming/entertainment, so I need reliability.

Longest I can get my puter to stay up for is 2 days max. If I look at it crosseyed, it crashes.

Plus, I don't have time, and its the same price to build one as it is to get one already built if you shop around.

Plus my ass hurts, and I'm lazy, and the sun's in my eyes, and blah blah blah.....

god I wish I remembered the title so I could dig up that thread, it was classic.

I built my own knowing virtually nothing and barely ever suffered crashes. Just upgraded a month ago and it has yet to crash using my epox 8kta3. Just get a reliable mobo (maybe a BX and a P3 if you really want reliablity) decent PS, good ram, etc... and you should be fine. Win2k is a must for stability

I'll build you a whoopasz box for 1500...probably get you a 17" monitor...and maybe GeForce3...of course...there would be a small service fee ;)

Buut...Dell makes the best prebuilts...but no Athy's with them :( Gateway has Athy's...but Gateway's kinda suck.

Seriously, building it yourself isn't hard...you shouldn't have problems...just remember a few things: 1) read about howto install the heatsink...read/memorize/DO NOT forget ;) 2) VIA/SB Live!=bad 3) common sense :)

Boot up...install something like Win2k, you won't have any problems :) (or at least I didn't...and i'm only 15)

Build your own, and you could damn near have an 18" LCD moniter and stay in your price range.
