Renewed my CompTia A+ cert, woohoo!

Is there any use in going after the other CompTia certs, or should I go straight for MCITP next? I already have my Net+

You now, get a F

I'll reiterate that CompTIA definitely isn't worth it. What you go for next really depends on the work you want to do.

Unless your goal is to work on a Help Desk, CompTIA certs are worthless.

MCITP: SA and CCNA are good ones to start with early in your career depending on if you're more interested in servers or networking.

I'd probably take that test if it wasn't so damn expensive for something only marginally useful.

Indy loves his SP :D

It is a good field to get into though, especially if you like web development and stuff like that and go the developer route. I think it is a cool platform and do enjoy working with it, but I think I'm ready for my next challenge and am at a crossroads where I have to decide to commit myself to diving deeper into SP or move into a field like Project Management.

i've only ever used sharepoint at my current job and it is terrible. but i think it may just be the organization that they use here for it and how it's setup. i prefer to simply email documents around.

granted, i'm not the one ever editing these documents, just looking at them.

You renewed your A+? I thought A+ only qualifies you for the equivalent of 6 months experience just to get you in your first job? I think it even used to say that right on their website. I'm sure now they want people to renew though, so I doubt they will mention that.

And if you can get the training paid for, VMWare VCP is a cert to add to the above -- which I know you can talk more about, CoW.

It requires a different thought process and does add a couple of extra steps to saving and modifying documents. Our users did complain about it but had no choice given that the directive to implement Sharepoint and specifically, version history and document retention policies came directly from our legal department. If not Sharepoint, it would've been something else and the previous solution (a Xerox product that I can't recall the name of) was an even bigger pain that no one used.

From your posts, I would say go PM.

Hmm my company does do a lot of stuff with sharepoint, I suppose I can head that direction. I personally don't use it much though.
