I got a ticket last week friday and yesterday I get a letter from the court saying i didn't show up for the court date. OMFG. I looked at the ticket again and court date was set for 5-27-2003. Is this normal?? I've never gotten a ticket where court date is set w/in a week before. OMFG this pisses me off. i bet it's just a fvcking speed trap revenue generating scam. THIS kind of stuff should NOT be legal. HOW THE FVCK do they expect me to rearrange my schedule in 3 FVCKING days. GOD this pisses me off. i have no problems paying the original ticket (tho most cops would have let me off) i wasn't carrying my insurance card with me, i lost it a week ago and have since requested that my insurance company send me a new one. So even if i had gone to court on tuesday, there is NO way i could have gotten an insurance card in time to take it to court with me. OMFG, these guys are soo fvcking full of sh1t. it is SO obviously just a revenue generating scam.

1) Take some deep, slow breaths
2) Go down to the courthouse, dmv, whatever, and take your paperwork and checkbook and take care of business. They will clear it all up and, if there's a warrant out for missing the court date, you'll most likely have to fill out add'l paperwork to cancel the warrant.

If you didn't break the law and you didn't fail to read the ticket, you wouldn't be in this situation.

Where I used to live, they only had court like one Wednesday of every month... and the judge was a high school biology teacher. So if I got a ticket the weekend before, I suppose I could expect to have to go to court on Wednesday. :)

btw.

it wasn't like i DID'T have insurance, I just happened to LOSE THE FVCKING CARD.

They were stopping EVERYONE to see if we had state inspections done. I had done it and failed the inspection because i needed a new gas cap, I GOT the new gas cap and before i could go back and get it reinspected they had this pull over thing (forget what you call these). it's PURELY revenue generating. THAT'S IT. it has NOTHING to do with public safety.

I should not have been stopped, when i showed them my inspection papers and that i had 45 days to get it reinspected they should have JUST let me go, but they asked for my papers anyway and when i pulled it out and that was missing they wrote me up for it.

ya, you can act all holier than thou and tell me that i should have obeyed that law, but that's BS and you know it. :disgust:

I would just do exactly as conjur said. Everyone makes mistakes and this is something that is easy to clear up. Just take your stuff down there and pay it off. Good luck.

Stop making excuses and blaming other people for your mistakes. If YOU would have had what YOU were supposed to have you wouldnt have gotten the ticket. and then YOU wouldnt have failed to read the ticket. And normally when they have a court date for failure to provide proof of insurance once you show it, its all dropped.

That goes without saying. :)
Actually I make mistakes but I don't whine about them and I take responsibility for my actions. It's called personal responsibility which seems to be dieing with the younger generation. Everything is someone else's fault.

EDIT
Thank you TwinkleToes77 and Spac3d. You restore my faith.

Yeah, I'd be suprised if you couldn't just show up and show proof to have it dropped.
