Beast Wars FTW!!! Got the full set of original series action figures and then some in my basement. No parts missing 🙂

Rodimus Prime = Hot Rod + the Matrix.

My brother has pretty much all of the old transformers toys, except for the metal ones. I remember having those as a wee little aikouka though. I still remember making the transformation noise and never being able to transform them fast enough that I'd always carry the last couple "statics" out.

Didn't transformers used to be made of metal?
I remember having a metal optimus prime as a child, unless I am going crazy.

They had both plastic and metal if I remember correctly.

The metal were like... the deluxe versions and cost a bit more. I remember being a kid and seeing Grimlock in Toys'R'Us and wanting it 🙁. Him, Grimlock, favorite transformer!

Yes, I believe the earliest versions were at least partly die-cast (with delicious lead paint 😉).

Unfortunately, they broke very easily. I had Optimus Prime and Megatron at one point or another, but both broke. 🙁

the scourge is half metal, his legs and torso are anyways. I'm not sure i like metal though, I think when i was a kid, the metal parts tended to wear down or outlast the plastic parts it was connected to.

pshh. I still have all of that sh1t. it's somewhere in a box at my mother's house. None of those re-packaged things either. most transformers were plastic with some metal parts. i think megatron had the most metal...being that the designers took great care to make sure he looked like a real gun.

Go-bots were actually more metal than transformers were. And yes, go-bots were around well before transformers.

yeah everyone knows that. he's saying that toy is called rodimus prime but looks like the hot rod form (car not a truck).

The way your ex tells it, you have a Bumblebee. 😛

Sorry, couldn't resist that one.

Seriously though, back on topic. Didn't the Rodimus Prime come with a trailer?

looks like they were deliberate in putting just "Rodimus" and not "Rodimus Prime" on the box.

in any case, Hot Rod and Rodimus Prime were both bitches, not as much as Ultra "I can't deal with that right now" Magnus, but bitches none the less.

I'm pretty sure TransFormers were actually around before GoBots were. GoBots were more plastic than TransFormers, the only GoBots that were largely metal were the Super GoBots.

This version is just called "Rodimus" not "Rodimus Prime." There's some type of legal issue with "Hot Rod", so they had to change the name. Same thing with Jazz in both Japan and the U.S., so they changed it to "Meister."
