I got a priblem with windows...

when i start it, i see all the bios stuff and then the windows xp logo comes up. bbut after that, the screen goes dark and the monitor goes into standby. I thought it had something do with the resolution, but it starts up fine in safe mode.

How about switching to another videocard and try that again. At least you gain a different perspective.

remove video card drivers from safe mode.

do you have integrated video + video card?

if yes, remove vid card, boot with integrated video, DISABLE it in hardware manager, shut down, insert video card, disable integrated in BIOS and boot up.

Sounds like you've somhow got your moniter's refresh rate set too high for it to handle & as a result the moniter shuts off to prevent damage when XP loads the video driver... the easiest way out of this is to do as MegaVovaN suggested & uninstall your video driver in safe-mode, then before you re-install it, make sure you have the correct moniter driver installed in device manager which should force a compatible refresh rate.

If this fails, you can try installing a 3rd-party application like RefreshLock & use it to force a compatible refresh rate.
