Finally I have a good reason to be happy with the prescott 3.0ghz that came with my dell 8300. You know, with the heat issue with prescott and all. AT benchmark showed prescott is 7% faster in doom 3 than northwood of same clock speed.
he didn't mention it in the text of his post, but his link hints that he's sharing with us that he got a prescott because it performs better than Northwoods in Doom 3...a video game. Probably should still be in CPU not video
But you would waste a post just to say it doesn't belong in the video forum. The lad suggested that he has a 7% gain in a video game over Northy users. They don't have a CPU/Video forum so I think it belongs right where he put it. People who want to upgrade their processors because after purchasing a 6800 or X800, they suddenly find themselves CPU bottlenecked and this little tidbit of information might be helpful to someone. I am about to buy a GT. I have a 2.8b processor. I will be bottlenecked. I will now consider a Prescott over a Northy despite the heat issues. Don't mean to go on and on about this but I found it useful.
